Staff recommends the Mayor and Council authorize the City Manager to Execute the Fiscal Year 2025 Amendment to Contract #1136423, Montgomery County’s Grant for the SNP offered at the Rockville Senior Center. This Agreement is a grant of funding and provision of meals to enable the City to serve lunches to the community of seniors or persons with disabilities at the Rockville Senior Center. As part of the SNP, Montgomery County requires a nutrition site management service for the lunch meals to the community with seniors and/or persons with disabilities at the Rockville Senior Center location. This location is a congregate meal facility. This agreement extends the contract, from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.
Discussion
Annually, Montgomery County provides an Amendment between the Montgomery County and the City of Rockville to proceed with services to provide funding for nutrition site management for the SNP. SNP provides meals Monday through Friday to seniors who schedule a lunch. These are subsidized lunches for those who cannot otherwise afford them. The cost of lunch is $8.92 or what the person can pay, allowing seniors to receive a daily balanced meal.
Pursuant to the contract documents renewals are to be approved by the Mayor and Council on an annual basis. The current Amendment expires September 30, 2024; therefore, this Amendment needs to be approved and signed to ensure continuation of the meals without interruption of service.
Mayor and Council History
This is the first time the FY2025 Renewal Amendment to Contract #1136423 has been brought to the Mayor and Council. The original contract and previous amendments were approved by Mayor and Council.
Fiscal Impact
The SNP grant provides funding for nutritious meals for seniors and/or persons with disabilities at the Rockville Senior Center. The Fiscal Year 2025 adopted budget includes grant revenue and associated appropriations for the SNP grant, which has traditionally been received annually by the City.
Next Steps
If authorized by the Mayor and Council, the City Manager will execute the contract and staff will continue to implement the SNP.
