National Public Health Week 2026
April 6-12, 2026 • 31st Anniversary
Ready, Set, Action!
April 6-12, 2026, marks the 31st anniversary of National Public Health Week (NPHW)-a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come and to recommit ourselves to building a healthier, more equitable future. Public health begins with each of us. It’s reflected in the choices we make, the environments we create, and the ways our homes, workplaces, and communities shape our well-being.
Public health is also a collective effort. Organizations like the American Public Health Association (APHA) and countless partners across the country work every day to advocate for healthier communities. This anniversary is an invitation to join that movement-celebrating successes, preparing for emerging challenges, and envisioning what comes next.
Explore APHA’s resources, events, and opportunities to get involved during NPHW 2026, because public health is all of us-and it starts here.
Ready, Set, Action!
The 2026 theme encourages individuals and communities to reflect on past progress and take bold, proactive steps toward a healthier future. Good health doesn’t happen by chance. It requires:
• coordinated efforts
• evidence-based policies
• active participation from public health professionals and community members
Together, we can turn awareness into action.
Belonging, Community & Cultural Connection
Our sense of belonging and the strength of our cultural and community ties profoundly influence our health, well-being, and overall quality of life. When we collaborate across public, private, and cultural spheres, we create the conditions for:
• healthier people
• stronger families
• more resilient communities
Building the healthiest nation happens one connection-and one action-at a time.
Collaboration for a Stronger Future
NPHW 2026 is an opportunity to spark new conversations, engage new partners, and inspire meaningful change. The future of public health depends on collaboration and our shared commitment to making health accessible to all. When we work together, our communities become happier, healthier, and stronger.
Tools, Tips & Community Engagement
Each year, NPHW provides fresh tools and resources to help you shape and promote activities, messages, and events. These materials support your efforts to:
• engage communities
• elevate prevention
• champion public health initiatives
Your voice and leadership help bring public health to life.
Advancing Research & Prevention
A growing body of research continues to guide our understanding of today’s most urgent health priorities-from chronic and rare diseases to emerging infections and pandemic-related crises such as H1N1, H2N2, and COVID-19. We also face the resurgence of diseases once nearly eradicated, including Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR).
And we remain steadfast in addressing devastating conditions like HIV/AIDS. We envision a world where HIV infections are rare and where every person living with or affected by HIV/AIDS and its associated co-morbidities has access to high-quality care, treatment, and supportive services.
There is also a special emphasis on Mental Health and Self-Care for all members of the Rockville and Montgomery County community.
